Writing a good resume

The resume is the first thing any future employer sees. It's the pre-interview, and without it, it's almost impossible to find work. The Source offers tips on resume writing. Some are obvious, some are not.

Jeanette Ueberroth's job hunting for the first time in seventeen years. She told us, "It's challenging, scary, like fishing without a net." She came to the free resume writing course.

Leslie Linear teaches resume writing at The Source. She says, "Main thing is the objective, most people put what they want. You should put how to be an asset to your employer." She also told us, "Show you're computer savvy. Type the resume, have an email address. Look 'online'."

Linear says employers treat resumes like a Survivor tactic, using them to eliminate people from candidate pools sometimes larger than 100 people. She tells us a resume is like a book and you want the resume to be the first chapter, not the last.

The Source offers free resume writing courses regularly. You can contact The Source at 419.213.JOBS (5627) or online at TheSourceNWO.com.
