Chicago's St. Anthony Hospital unveiled a huge new emergency room Friday. The ribbon was cut on a 6,600-square-foot facility that's twice the size of the previous one. The hospital says it features greatly enhanced technology to serve growing populations on the Near Southwest Side.

"Saint Anthony Hospital is very proud to serve the people in the surrounding communities," said Guy Medaglia, hospital CEO.

Half the people treated by the hospital's emergency department are children. That's a lot higher than the national average.
