More sleep could help heart

Researchers from the University of Chicago Medical Center studied nearly 500 people. Each was fitted with a special wristband to help determine exactly how much they slept.

The researchers found, the more sleep the participants got, the lower their risk of developing calcium deposits in the arteries. Those deposits are a precursor to heart disease.

Doctors aren't certain why this happens. Their findings are reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
