Dog saves couple

A suburban Bolingbrook couple credits their dog with alerting them to a fire at their home.The fire started just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Robert and Marta Smith's dog, Neska, was in the garage.

Marta says the dog began scratching at the door as if she was trying to open it. When Marta went to see what was wrong. She discovered a fire in the garage.

The Herald News provided ABC7 with a picture of the couple and their dog.

Investigators think the fire was caused by a space heater.

The couple, their dog and cat all survived.
