The inaugural gown worn by First Lady Michelle Obama should be in the Smithsonian by this summer. The reason for the delay? The first lady must first give her approval.

The museum customarily sends a formal letter to the first lady. And then when she approves, repairs, if any, must be made to the dress.

The curator of the Smithsonian's first ladies collection says she also has her eye on the outfit Mrs. Obama wore earlier in the day for the inauguration ceremony.
