A new painting celebrates the 150-year history of the Chicago Fire Department. Commissioner John Brooks helped unveil the painting Saturday at the fire academy. The work of art was painted by retired firefighter and artist Lee Kowalski, who spent 34 years with the department.

Kowalski said Saturday he was proud of the painting because it honors firefighters both past and present.
