Organization gives away 800 coats to kids

Although there could more icy, cold days ahead for Chicago area residents, hundreds of children have received new coats to help them stay warm. The Knights of Columbus gave away 800 coats to deserving children Sunday.

The event took place at St. Thomas the Apostle church on South Kimbark.

Sunday's giveaway was part of a nationwide coat drive. In all, the Knights of Columbus purchased 7,800 coats to give to children ages 6 to 12.
