Chicago Olympic bid book on its way to IOC

February 11, 2009 (CHICAGO) Stuart Owens Rankin is headed for Lausanne, Switzerland. He boarded a plane at O'Hare Airport on Wednesday afternoon with the official Chicago 2016 bid book.

Rankin is the grandson of 1936 Olympic gold medalist and former Chicago resident Jesse Owens. He's hand delivering the book to the International Olympic Committee.

"My family has always been supporters of the bid and its always a pleasure to participate in the bid process.-- so I really appreciate the opportunity," said Rankin.

Rio, Madrid and Tokyo are also submitting their bids to the International Olympic Committee. The host city will be selected in October.
