Police: Elderly man's death not abuse

March 6, 2009 (STEGER, Ill.) The medical examiner first ruled 90-year-old Joseph Basile's death a homicide because he showed signs of dehydration and abuse.

Investigators now say because he was in the hospital for four days before his death the dehydration finding should be reversed.

Police say the family had restrained him for his own protection because he would often fall and injure himself. Basile suffered from cancer and dementia.
