The incident resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the officer and an offender.
Police said the officer was taken to an area hospital in good condition.
The offender was not yet in custody Sunday morning.
Off-duty officer wounded in Chicago shooting
April 12, 2009 (CHICAGO) The 36-year old officer was off duty at the time near 87th Street and South Halsted when he was shot during a possible attempted carjacking. He suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his arm.
