The public session was intended to explain what a green economy means and show how local businesses can get involved.
"Step one to getting a green job one is being educated about the green economy... a green economy in an urban community...means being more efficient. how do we do things more energy efficiently?" said Cheryle Jackson, president and CEO, Chicago Urban League.
Local lawmakers were also on hand explaining how green companies may be eligible for federal grants.
