An alert off-duty police communications operator helped Chicago police catch a burglary suspect. Fifty-year-old Robert McKinney is charged with burglary.

The operator, who works for the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, was on her way into work around 5 a.m. Thursday morning. She says she saw a man crawling out of a broken window of a business in the 1400-block of West 103rd Street.

The operator followed the vehicle and called police, who responded and arrested McKinney.
