Unilever said it's removing all partially hydrogenated oils from its soft spread margarines. Their brands include: I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Shedd's Spread Country Crock, Imperial and Brummel and Brown.
Under federal food guidelines, their margarines can already claim zero trans fats because they have less than .5 grams of it.
Unilever said it will now remove the trace amounts that add texture and shelf life. The change begins next month and will be complete by next year.
