50-cent surcharge for cabs expected

Taxi drivers are bringing back a 50-cent surcharge.

When gas prices rise above $2.70 a gallon for seven consecutive business days a 50-cent fuel surcharge is applied. That extra fee is expected to go back into effect Thursday.

Passengers should look for an orange sign displayed in the seating area of the cab announcing this change. Without the sign -- cabbies are not permitted to collect the fee.
