Oduro was a freshman at Truman College and had just immigrated to the United States in 2007.

August 22, 2009 (CHICAGO) Frances Oduro was shot and killed May 21, 2008 while walking in the 4500 block of North Broadway in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Gang gunfire erupted, and a stray bullet struck Oduro.
