House of Blues Chicago Gospel Brunch

September 8, 2009 (PRESS RELEASE) For next Sunday's (September 13) Gospel Brunch Chef Bob Capogreco will be preparing his famous New Orleans-style jambalaya and offering guests a complete "jambalaya station" (much like an omelets station) to help celebrate Gospel Music Heritage Month. His jambalaya is a dish he often recommends bringing to Bears tailgates.

The brunch buffet features items such as: Jambalaya Scrambled Eggs, Buttermilk Biscuits with Country Gravy, Blackened Catfish, Cheddar Cheese Grits, Bacon, Sausage, Fried Chicken, Vegetable Crudites, Fruit Platter, Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Turnip Greens Bread Station.

Seatings for the Gospel Brunch are at 10 am and 12:30 pm each Sunday. This week's featured entertainers are William Smith Jr. & Renewed Voices for Christ with special appearance by The Brown Sisters; hosted by Cedric Nunley. For tickets, call (312) 923–2000 or visit www.houseofblues.com

Chef Capogreco has been with the Chicago House of Blues since 1999; he got his start at age 15 as a busboy and dishwasher in a small restaurant outside Philadelphia. After working in the some of the finest Italian and French restaurants in the Philadelphia area, he migrated south to Orlando where he worked as Executive Chef for the Sheraton corporation. He then became Sous Chef at the House of Blues Downtown Disney. In 1999 he came to the Chicago House of Blues where he currently serves as Executive Chef.

You can try Chef Capogreco's Carnival Jambalaya at the House of Blues, or you can make it at home. Here's the recipe.
