Ald. introduces immigration reform resolution

October 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) Advocates gathered Wednesday morning in City Hall. Alderman Danny Solis introduced a resolution Wednesday supporting reform.

The call by activists has inspired Congressman Luis Gutierrez to craft a federal reform bill. Details will be revealed next week.

Advocates say they want to ensure the Obama administration makes good on its pledge for reform.

"Every deportation, every separation of family is a broken promise. we are heartened by the commitment of the administration to begin this legislative process for immigration reform now," said Emma Lozano, Centro Sin Fronteras.

Next Monday several buses carrying the Chicago delegation of families, religious leaders and community leaders will head to Washington, D.C. for a rally.
