Survey names most annoying phrases

The folks at Marist College in New York have come up with a list of the most annoying words or phrases. The winner: "whatever." The popular term of indifference was found "most annoying in conversation" by 47 percent of adults surveyed.

Also making the list: "you know," "anyway," "it is what it is," and "at the end of the day."

Pollsters at Marist College surveyed more than 900 adults by telephone.
