White wine may be bad for teeth

October 21, 2009 According to German researchers, pale wine can erode enamel far more than red wine because of very low ph levels.

It's the calcium in teeth that wine attacks.

Eating cheese at the same time may help counter the effects, but brushing your teeth after a night of drinking probably won't.

The report in the journal Nutrition Research finds Riesling wines tend to have the greatest impact because they have the lowest ph levels.

As always, the experts say moderation is key.
