Hotel workers vote to authorize strike

Workers from five downtown Chicago hotels have voted to authorize a strike. Employees of the Starwood chain that includes the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers and the Westin Michigan Avenue.

The vote does not necessarily mean that workers will strike. It authorizes the union bargaining committee to call a strike if they decide it's necessary.

The current union contract expired at the end of August.
