At about 2:20 a.m., the Porter County Sheriff's Department got a call about alleged erratic driving of a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up, which was then pulled over on State Road 149 by sheriff's police and a state trooper.
The driver, Zachary R. Duis, 24, had an open bottle of alcohol in his pick-up, police say. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Portage Police Department for a Breathalyzer.
"Dude, I do this every night; I'm straight up and not drunk," Duis said, according to State Trooper Glen Fifield.
He was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OWI). Duis was also wanted on two prior warrants in Porter County for allegedly resisting arrest and serving alcohol to a minor.
