The victim was hospitalized in critical condition.
Witnesses told police the gunfire came from a van. They pointed out the vehicle, and officers chased it.
Less than two miles away at Washtenaw and Flournoy, the driver of the van lost control, and it flipped over.
Two people inside were arrested. They were uninjured.
No charges have been filed as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
