Man charged in deadly SW Side crash

December 8, 2009 (CHICAGO) Anthony Galvan, 21, of the 2400-block of West 59th Street, is charged with aggravated DUI in an accident resulting in death. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, failure to yield the right of way, having no insurance and reckless driving.

Chicago police say Galvan was driving a 1998 Chevy Lumina west on 58th Street around 3 a.m. Sunday when he struck the driver's side of a 1996 Buick Regal travelling south on California.

Police say Galvan was travelling against the one-way street's direction prior to entering the intersection. The driver of the Buick, a 27-year-old man, was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital by a Chicago Fire Department ambulance and pronounced dead at 3:27 a.m.

Police say both Galvan and a 20-year-old male passenger in his vehicle refused medical attention.
