Kolachkys

December 16, 2009 The secret is the powdered sugar in the dough.

1 cup butter or margarine or 1 stick of each, softened
1 8oz package of cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup jelly or jam

Cream butter and cream cheese till fluffy; gradually blend in sugar. Stir together flour an salt; sir into creamed mixture. Cover; chill dough several hours or overnight.

Divide dough in thirds. On lightly floured surface, roll each portion to 12 1/2 x 10 inch rectangle. With fluted pastry wheel, cut into 2 1/2 in squares; bring up two diagonal corners to center, pinching together to seal.

Place on ungreased cookie seet. Bake at 375 degrees till firm but not brown, about 12 minutes. If desired, sift additional powdered sugar over slightly warm kolachkys.

Makes 5 dozen.
