Carpentersville: No money for fireworks

December 18, 2009 6:00:47 AM PST
Officials in northwest suburban Carpentersville say it won't have the money to help pay for next year's July 4th fireworks show.A nearly $2 million budget shortfall forced village trustees to vote unanimously to deny a $7,500 request by the Dundee Township Park District to help pay for the fireworks show. The park district and Carpentersville were co-sponsors of the event.

Park district officials say they are looking for an alternate option so they don't have to cancel the fireworks display.
