A teenager who was caught impersonating a Chicago police officer is being sent to juvenile prison for stealing a relative's car.

Last week, he pleaded guilty to aggravated battery for that incident and pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The judge who sentenced him acknowledged the teen is bipolar but also said he needs to be imprisoned to ensure the public's safety.

The boy could be kept in the juvenile detention center until he is 21 but may be released earlier.
