Wheaton School District 200 is the latest district to approve deep cuts to close a budget deficit. The board approved staff reductions at the district's elementary, middle and high schools, as well as cuts in some athletic programs to save more than $7 million.

But the school board spared funding for kindergarten, physical education and middle school sports.

District 200 covers Wheaton, Warrenville and portions of Carol Stream, Winfield and West Chicago.
