The man who kept a list of politicians, aldermen and others trying to get students into Chicago's college prep high schools has resigned. David Pickens will step down on April 30.

Pickens kept the list for former schools CEO Arne Duncan. He said he acted as a "buffer" for school principals checking out students and dealing with those lobbying on their behalf. Pickens says while he did keep the list, the decision about whether children were admitted to schools was still up the principals.
