The Chicago Transit Authority tried out a new train car on the Red Line Monday morning.

If the tests go well, the CTA plans to purchase 400 of the new cars. The passenger cars are more spacious: they have fewer seats, all of which face the aisle, and more grab bars and hand straps for standing riders.

The train will be tested on all the lines, according to the CTA.
