Camera catches Lincoln Park store break-in

April 24, 2010 (CHICAGO) A manager at the Plato's Closet store on North Clybourn says the suspect threw a rock through the door early Saturday. Then, he came inside and apparently checked the registers for money.

However, he left empty-handed.

The store provided ABC7 Chicago with surveillance video that apparently shows the suspect.

The manager at Plato's Closet believes the same person broke into a neighboring business.

Police say detectives are reviewing the tape.

"He waited until the very end to put on his hood. Then, it was a little bit too late. So, thank God we have that great picture of him," said Joe Brock of Plato's Closet.

"I'm extremely surprised. You know, this is a very safe area. We've been here for 18 years. So, I'm extremely surprised this happened," said Selections' Kona Hatcher.

A Sprint and U.S. Cellular store were also broken into. There was no word Saturday on whether anything was taken from those businesses.
