The report in the Archives of Otolaryngology says men taking Viagra, Cialis and Levitra had twice the risk of developing hearing loss as those who don't take the drugs.
The medications work by increasing blood flow to certain tissues in the body.
Researchers say they may have a similar effect in the ear where an increase of blood flow could potentially cause damage leading to hearing loss.
