The plans were announced Tuesday afternoon at the Chicago police memorial east of Solider Field.
A new sculpture will be created and installed at that location to honor the officers.
Injured officers were there for the announcement.
The effort is made possible due to a joint effort by Chicago five major professional sports teams.
