Tiny telescopes help improve sight

A new FDA-approved procedure could give hope to millions of people losing their sight to macular degeneration.

The disease made Ed Nungesser legally blind for years, but that has all changed after he signed up to be part of a trial group having tiny telescopes implanted into their eyes.

The first thing that Nungesser saw after the procedure was his young granddaughter Faith, and that was enough to convince him this treatment works.

Health officials caution that the surgery won't help all of the two million people who have macular degeneration.
