Hit-run suspect, 18, to ask to leave state for college

July 9, 2010 (CHICAGO) Erin Hughes, 18, will ask a judge to grant her permission to leave Illinois so she can attend college in the fall. She is hoping to attend University of Missouri.

Hughes' attorney plans to ask for a judge's approval at a hearing later this month. However, prosecutors plan to oppose the request.

Hughes entered a not guilty plea Thursday to charges of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash.

The victim, 16-year-old Sarah Goone, is still recovering from injuries suffered in the May 14th crash.
