Two city animal control supervisors were fired after an investigation found four dogs were mistakenly euthanized on their watch.

Some workers are also accused of trying to hide the incidents.

The probe dates back to 2006, when a police lieutenant's dog was accidentally put to death at the city's pound on S. Western.

The mayor's office says the department is in the process of hiring two new veterinarians.

Pet owners are being asked to take their pets to the Anti-Cruelty Society to get them neutered.
