Some village employees say they did not get paid on Friday for work they did the past two weeks.
Two trustees also told ABC7 Friday night that Dixmoor did not pay its workforce of more than 40 employees.
"This is ridiculous this is going on in our town," said Dixmoor Trustee Michael Smith. "Employees have worked hard, and then they end up and Friday and can't receive a check."
"I'm baffled because, it's like, you work for two weeks, you're supposed to get paid," said Dixmoor employee Deborah Reeves. "When you ask, everyone is being nonchalant, like you're doing something wrong for asking, but I work."
Dixmoor's mayor could not be reached for comment Friday night.
The police chief said his officers got paid and are on the job, and village firefighters were seen at work Friday night.
