Illinois children were more likely to be covered by health insurance in 2009 than the year before, according to newly released U.S. Census Bureau figures.

The percentage of Illinois children with health insurance grew between 2008 and 2009 from 94 to 95 percent. But about 5 percent of Illinois children were still uninsured last year.

Macon County has the highest rate of uninsured children with 14 percent. The national rate of uninsured children is 9 percent.
