Teacher welcomed home from Afghanistan

October 2, 2010 (LOCKPORT, Ill.) Army medical Officer Robert Ortiz got a hero's treatment from friends, family and well-wishers in his hometown of Lockport Saturday afternoon.

After the parade, there was a party at Lockport's Legion Hall.

Ortiz is a decorated first lieutenant, who spent the past year helping to create a health care system for the Afghan army.

Ortiz returned home earlier this week.

He is a teacher at Joliet's Gompers Junior High.
