The 46th Chicago International Film Festival opens its 2010 festivities with the much-anticipated Stone. Opening Night guests will be amongst the first to view this new film starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton, Frances Conroy and Milla Jovovich. Adding to the excitement at the Harris Theater that evening will be a special appearance by Stone star Edward Norton and the film's director John Curran. Following the screening, VIP guests will head to theWit Hotel for the Opening Night Reception featuring appetizing delights created by the hotel's renowned chefs and beverages including Stella Artois. The Festival's kick off event presents the perfect environment to rub elbows with fellow film lovers and discuss the must-see films of this legendary two-week festival.

Black Perspectives has long been the Festival's celebration of the achievements and contributions of African-American filmmakers and actors. The evening begins with a fabulous red carpet followed by a presentation honoring this year's honoree, Oscar®-winning actor and filmmaker, Forest Whitaker. In the intimate setting of the Chase Auditorium, The Festival will present a montage of Whitaker's most memorable career moments. Immediately following this one-of-a-kind event, guests will head to theWit Hotel's Wilde Ballroom to party the night away with tasty hors d'oeuvres and bubbling Stella Artois.

The proceeds of these Special Events will benefit the year-round programs of Cinema/Chicago, the presenter of the 46th Chicago International Film Festival, a not-for-profit cultural and educational organization dedicated to fostering better communication between people of diverse cultures through the art of the moving image.
