An Indiana man was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to scamming investors and trying to fake his death in a plane crash.

Prosecutors say Marcus Schrenker of Indianapolis jumped out of a small plane with a parachute last January, allowing the plane to crash in Florida.

The 39-year-old was found two days later at a campground.

Schrenker pleaded guilty to securities fraud charges and agreed to a 10-year prison sentence. He has already been sentenced to four years for crashing the plane.

Prosecutors say Schrenker stole about $1.1 million from investors to finance his lavish lifestyle.
