Whitier protesters turn down truce

October 8, 2010 (CHICAGO) A six-month truce was presented Thursday night to delay demolition of the building.

Protesters say the half million dollars it will cost to level the structure can be better used to turn it into a library. They've been camped out in the field house for nearly a month. Education bosses have declared it structurally unsound and want it torn down so they can expand the playground.
