NYC Tourism officials announced a deal with Miami and American Airlines on Tuesday morning: Travelers who purchase a ticket Thursday on American will get a special $79 each way rate between the two cities.
NYC & Company is expected to announce a similar deal with Chicago and Los Angeles later this week.
George Fertitta, the CEO of NYC & Company, is on the board of the new Corporation for Travel Promotion under the U.S. Commerce Department. The group said they hope American cities will get involved to help the struggling tourism industries.
