Some validation that women seem to be more skin savvy than men -- a report in the Archives of Dermatology finds it to be especially true when it comes to skin cancer screening.

The study says 60 percent of those asking doctors to be checked out for skin cancer were women.

Family medical histories and worries about exposure to sunlight motivated them to be more active.

Men on the other hand were more likely to ask about screening only if they already had cancer.

Researchers say men need to be better informed about skin screening, since men age 50 and older are at highest risk of melanoma.
