Deno Wooldridge, 18, was killed Monday night while standing on his grandmother's porch.
Wooldridge's mother, Shundra Robinson, does not deny that her son was probably a gang member.
In fact, she says she had been fighting against that lifestyle since he was a child.
"You know how when you see the devil and angel. That's exactly how it was for him," said Robinson. "You had the devil showing him this lavish world on this side, and then you got God pulling... this is the way right here...the straight and narrow here - but that way over there was real wide and open - and that's the way he was being pulled."
Relatives say that when Wooldridge was 9 years old his father and his father's twin brother were murdered.
