The school says 20-year-old Declan Sullivan was on a hydraulic lift shooting video of the practice when the lift fell over Wednesday afternoon.
Sullivan was a junior from Long Grove.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he was "a diligent student worker and had a tremendous personality."
The cause of the accident isn't known but winds in the area were gusting up to 51 miles per hour at the time.
