Kirk to be certified for Senate term

The Illinois Board of Elections meets Tuesday to certify the election of Mark Kirk to the U.S. Senate.

After the board acts, Kirk's certification will go to Sec. of State Jesse White and Gov. Pat Quinn for signatures.

Next, the certification will be sent to Washington, D.C. in time for Kirk to be sworn in to serve the remaining U.S. Senate term on Monday.
