Winnetka schools cleaned after whooping cough outbreak

The district reports that 15 students have been diagnosed with whooping cough or pertussis as its also known.

Whooping cough is a highly contagious illness. It begins with symptoms similar to a common cold. But patients can develop a severe cough with a whooping sound.

Students with the stomach virus have experienced nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps.
