The building is located at the corner of at the corner of Laramie and Huron.
The blaze started on the first floor. Smoke could been seen billowing out of the southwest corner of the building. The fire had been struck by 7 a.m.
Approximately 25 people reportedly were displaced by the fire. A CTA warming bus was expected to arrive at the scene to assist residents.
No injuries had been reported early Thursday, and there was no word on what caused the fire.
