The event was the 31st annual Chance of a Lifetime gala for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A portion of the evening was dedicated to Santo, the former Cub great who died last week at the age of 70.
Santo suffered from Type 1 diabetes and advocated for diabetes-related causes throughout his career. A portion of the money raised Saturday will go to the Artificial Pancreas Project.
