Retired Judge Michael Galasso was sworn in Monday to the position formerly held by Joe Birkett who took a seat on the Illinois Appellate Court.
Robert Berlin has been nominated to replace Birkett. However, the DuPage County board is not expected to vote to confirm Berlin until Tuesday.
Galasso agreed to act as interim because state law requires that the position never be vacant.
